Dear Principal, Teachers and Learners
Idyoki Public School is very happy to be able to communicate with your school.
Our school is situated in the town of Ugie Location. Our town is on the edge
of the Darkenburg Mountain Range. The Prentjiesberg Mountain, which translated
from Afrikaans, means picture mountain over looks our town. Our region is a
summer rainfall area and so we are having our summer rains at the moment. The
Wildebeest river runs through our town, which is how the town and all the people
receive water.
Our school year has started in January this year and have admitted 1911 learners
for the year we have an enthusiastic 52 teachers to teach our learners. Our school
grades are from grade R to grade 7.
Grade R to 3 is called the Foundation Phase; school subjects are
Language (Xhosa - home language and English)
Numeracy
Life Skills
In the Intermediate Phase (grade 4 - 6) the seven learning areas are:
Languages are (Xhosa -home language, English - 1st additional language and
Afrikaans 2nd additional language)

Natural Science and Technology
Social Science and Economic Management Science
Arts & Culture and Life Orientation
In the Senior Phase (grade 7) the 10 learning areas are

We have various school activities taking place, which include our regional athletics
meetings, our skill development programmes, using the school library and general
sporting activities.
Learners were invited to an Aids awareness Day which was funded by the Department
of Health on the 14th Feb 06. This day was to educate and promote Aids Awareness
Campaign, which is very important in our region due to the high rate of Aids
in our community and as we have many Aids Orphans in our school.
We are very proud to have opened our very own Computer Centre in January, which
is real boost for our school and local community. Our school is involved in a
library day, which will be held in Maclear (neighbouring town). Our school is going
to submit learners and items to take part of in the day's activities.
At the moment our community politicians are preparing for the local government
elections, which will be held on the 1st of March. We thank you for all your
