Dear Parents,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

To the parents of children in Year 6

Keystage 2 SATs

The Qualifications and Assessment Agency have advised schools to plan for

KS2 SATs to take place from Monday May 9th to Friday May 13th 2011.

The pattern of the week is as follows:

Monday           Reading

Tuesday           Writing

Wednesday      Maths A / Mental Arithmetic

Thursday           Maths B

Friday              Science sampling tests (for selected pupils / schools)

This year both the NAHT and NUT boycotted this year’s tests.  I am a member of the NAHT members and other teaching staff are members of the NUT. In this we were unanimously supported by the Governing Body.

The new government’s position is that the tests are to go ahead. As yet the unions have not announced their position. We, therefore,  need to assume the tests will go ahead!!! Watch this space!

Booster classes for Year 6 should start in early March in preparation for the tests.

It is in the very best interest of your child that you ensure that you do not arrange holidays, dental or hospital appointments during this important time.

So sorry to bring this up so soon!!

Yours sincerely,

Headteacher
