Paddy Mason, pupil 1937-1944
'Miss Earp was with the infants class and used to keep us quiet by
saying she could see a fairy in the corner. Miss Bentley was the
Headmistress, she was very fierce and caned me twice. Once for
throwing a brick at the light and once for paddling in the duck pond which
was next door - now filled in. I was trying to catch a duck!
We were all very excited when the evacuees came, it was a bit of a
squash!'
My name is Susan Pegg.
I started Anslow in 1950.
'My Father, Stanley Pegg was at the school from 1921 to 1932. I
have very happy memories of my school days. I have always lived
locally and taken an interest in the life of the school. I loved to
dance around the Maypole and do handstands on the bank. The
Headteacher in my day was Miss Adams.'
Joycelyn Hickman, School Secretary 1982 - present
'Having been associated with the school for longer than I care to
remember, I have many special and happy memories. Firstly, when we
moved to Anslow, I phoned the school to register Matthew and asked what
time school started. The Headteacher replied, "When the school
bus arrives." There were only 60 children on roll then.
Secondly, Jessica's first day. I am so pleased that she followed in
her Dad's footsteps because the Mosley School has always been a school
that is very different from the rest.
The school has always fostered a sense of belonging; in fact an extension
of the children's own family. Although we are moving to the new
building I am sure that this tradition of caring for one another and the
happy atmosphere in which the children thrive will move with us.'
Anne James, Headteacher 1997 - present
'My first memory was visiting the school to look around, before I came
for my interview. The moment I stepped through the door I felt the
warmth and happiness of the school. I knew I wanted to come
here! I can remember promising the Governors to do something about
the old mobiles at my interview, little dreaming it would be a completely
new building!
I know that my years here have been the happiest of my teaching career -
lovely, funny, bright children, wonderful colleagues and friends,
supportive, interested parents. A very special place to teach and
learn!'
Sarah Taberner, former pupil and current teacher
'I have so many memories of my time at Mosley, right from the age of 4
years old when I first started in Mrs Baker's class. We had lots of
pets to look after - Snowy the rabbit, Bit and Bob the gerbils and Peter
the budgie. I remember having five minutes to go to sleep before
home time.
Miss T's class was full of poetry, songs and Mrs Pepperpot stories.
She had beautiful, neat, joined handwriting!
Playtimes were great, rolling down the bank, sledging and rollerskating.
I was so sad to leave in Year 6. I had enjoyed it so much and
made so many friends and special times. My time here inspired me to
be a teacher and hopefully give back what I got from this school. I
am so lucky to be able to come back! Thanks Mosley.'
