Maths Day 2006

Joe Elson

On 26th January we had a Maths Day and did maths all day. We solved some puzzles and had 1½ hours to do them.
First we went in to the hall and someone called Nicola from The Happy Puzzle Company came in. She gave us the first puzzle, penguin pile up. We were split into groups with a good mix of girls and boys.
We also played many other games, after lunch we came into the classroom and did symmetry. We also played Marble Maze, a very hard puzzle and a road jigsaw puzzle.
I really enjoyed it on the whole and after school there was a big sale of games. I didn’t come.
I wished we had more time to do the puzzles but who can complain? After all the fun we had.

On the 26th January 2006 we had a Maths Day. We had lots of fun. This is what we did.
We had Happy Puzzle Company come in and let classes 4, 3 and 2. We got split into 6 teams and had a go at them. One puzzle we did was to make a road with 24 pieces, and make sure it had no dead ends. We did another difficult jigsaw that had multicoloured pieces and both were very challenging.
We did another where you can’t let the marble fall out of the maze you just made. Then we did Penguin Pile Up, you have to balance the penguins on a wobbly ice berg all these puzzles were brilliant.
In our class we did mental maths with a tape then we did symmetry patterns on paper and the computer. All in all we had a brilliant day.

On the 26th January we had Maths Day. Class 4 were the first in. we were divided into groups of 6. We sat on the gymnastics mats.
The person who worked with us was called Nicola, she is from The Happy Puzzle Company. Nicola worked with classes 2, 3 and 4.
In the hall the first puzzle we did was called Penguin Pile-Up, it was fun. The next puzzle we did was a multicoloured jigsaw. Then we did a road puzzle, it was hard. After that we put together a marble run. The last puzzle we did was called ‘Marble Maze’ we had to make a marble run.
In class (after being in the hall) we had a maths test, I did better than last week. Then we did work on symmetry.
After school Nicola set up a sale in the hall. It was a maths sale, she sold lots of puzzles but I didn’t buy any.
