The visit of poet, writer and performer Terry Caffrey on Monday was a great success.  He spoke to the children altogether first in the hall, where he had them all laughing, smiling, chanting and joining in with performances of his poems.  The children were captivated by his Liverpool accent!

Terry then worked with each class individually.  The children were really inspired and they produced some excellent poems.

We then got back together in the hall at the end of the day to share the work of the children and to listen to a few more poems from Terry.

It was a fabulous day and a brilliant start to our special book week!

Thank you Terry!

The Ramshackle Theatre joined us on Tuesday to perform the play, 'Twisted Tales'.  It was an excellent performance, with two actors playing most of the famous fairytale characters (with a little help from puppets!).

The story involved characters finding themselves in the wrong stories and finding ways to get back to where they belong.

Lots of audience participation was included and the children had a wonderful time!

The play was then followed by workshop sessions with each class.  The children have written stories based on the ideas they have experienced.

Friday was a very exciting day as the children came to school dressed as their favourite story character.

The children all looked brilliant, thank you to them and their parents for their efforts!

There was also a book fair by the local company Spaldings.  This was very well supported by the parents.  Thank you!

The staff also joined in and dressed up as well!

We are having another special week in February 2006, called 'Writer's Week'.  Watch this space!
