Sky High Lesson

Posted on October 28, 2010 by Midlands Air Ambulance
sky_high_lessonPupils at The Mosley Primary School in Burton Upon Trent received a visit from the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity on Monday 4th October.

Schools and Education Fundraising Manager Amita Patel dropped in on the school with the charity’s helipod (a decommissioned helicopter) to kick off a year of fundraising which will run between September 2010 and August 2011.

The 4 to 11 year olds were invited to climb on board the helipod and be kitted out in paramedic flight suits following an introduction to the work of Midlands Air Ambulance and why the rapid response service is vital to people across the region.

“The pupils had such a fantastic day” says head teacher Anne James “Everyone at the school is very excited about working with Midlands Air Ambulance this year and we have a host of fundraising activities planned for all the pupils and parents to get involved with. An ex-pupil at the school was airlifted by the air ambulance so we know just how important the service can be to local people.”

The first of the fundraising activities took place at the Harvest Festival on Friday 8th October where over £200 was raised through the sale of donated goods.

Pupils will also be getting involved with dress down days, carol singing, a Christmas afternoon tea, penny trails and a Summer fete in aid of the charity.

Midlands Air Ambulance is looking forward to hearing about the school’s fundraising throughout the year and hopes everyone has a thoroughly enjoyable time!
